12. Career development in Japan for Overseas Japanese Students/Researchers and for Foreign Students/Researchers in Japan
A majority of Japanese students and researchers believe that having research experience in another country is beneficial for their career development in Japan, yet they consider “limited opportunity to return to Japan” as the number one risk of studying abroad. For foreign students and researchers, finding an academic job in Japan can also be overwhelmingly challenging. These are among the major issues we face to promote diversity in our neuroscience and neurochemistry community. This workshop is devoted to discussion on “career development in Japan for overseas Japanese students and researchers, and for foreign students and researchers in Japan”. The four speakers will present topics, pose specific problems, and provide tips regarding challenges in advancing career in Japan, from the perspectives of current position, gender, and nationality. Participants may find advice on career topics such as job searching, networking, and more. Join us for discussion and a free lunch!

13. Luncheon Discussion
How can we make breakthroughs in neuroscience in next 20 years?
There is a growing concern that Japan is losing its international competitiveness in many fields of science, including neuroscience. In the Luncheon Discussion at the last Annual Meeting, we tried to draw big picture of brain science in Japan by discussing what we should do in the next 10-20 years. We would like to continue this discussion, focusing more on “how” we should achieve the goals, in collaboration with Diversity Promotion Symposia and Young PI Symposia.
Deluxe luncheons will be offered for the first 200 participants in order of web registration. Please apply by below page or we welcome your join without registration.
